OTTAWA (September 3, 2008) --- Today, Métis
Nation of Ontario President, Gary Lipinski, offered
congratulations on behalf of the Métis Nation
to Audrey Poitras on her re-election as President
of the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA).
President Poitras was
re-elected for her 5th consecutive term as President
of one of the Métis National Council’s
oldest governing members. Under her leadership,
the MNA has become a recognized leader in financial
management and accountability, the delivery of
Métis training and employment services,
economic development as well as Métis identification
and registration.
Gary Lipinski, MNO President
said, “I want to congratulate Audrey and
all of the candidates in the Métis Nation
of Alberta’s recent election. Our democratic
processes across the Métis Nation Homeland
are at the heart of the legitimacy, vitality and
strength of our governments. Everyone who participates
in these processes – whether it be by voting
or putting their name forward as a candidate –
should be thanked for their contribution to strengthening
Métis self-government.”
