The
Canadian Medical Foundation:
Special Bursary Program for undergraduate
Aboriginal students enrolled in a Canadian school of medicine
to provide financial support during medical training up to
$4,000 per year. Deadline date is November 20, 2006.
Dr. John Big Canoe Memorial Scholarship
for an undergraduate Aboriginal students enrolled in the 2nd,
3rd and 4th year a Canadian school of medicine to provide
financial support during medical training - $2,000 per year.

The Dr. Tomer Levy Scholarship
This award is offered to a student who is of Aboriginal ancestry,
Inuit or Metis. The applicant must be in good academic standing
at a medical school, have his or her home community in Ontario,
and want to work with the Native community upon completion

Medical and Dental scholarships for 4 graduating medical students
and one dental student for $3,000 each across Canada. Twenty-five
scholarships are awarded to first year medical and dental
students across Canada for $3,000 each who demonstrate academic
excellence, financial need and a commitment to their community.

(SDMS) assist financially challenged

Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Great-West Life,
London Life and Canada Life Scholarship Fund
For high school students hoping to pursue an education in
health or medical sciences at a Canadian university. $1,000
per year toward a four-year undergraduate degree. Administered
by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC).
Deadline date: June 15. Students may receive the award annually
for up to four years or until the student obtains his/her

Medical Student & Family Medicine
Resident Awards
Each Canadian medical school can nominate one outstanding
medical student who has demonstrated an interest in or commitment
to family medicine as a career. Nominees will be medical students
in their 2nd last year at the time of application (graduating
class of 2008). $10,000 Deadline date April 15, 2007.
Medical Student Leadership Awards
Awards are presented by the CFPC to recognize exemplary medical
students enrolled in Canadian medical schools. Eligibility
criteria includes medical student in graduating class of 2007,
demonstrated interest and skills in areas such as health care
policy/economics, government/media relations, advocacy and
representation on behalf of patients, peers or healthcare
organizations and commitment to or an interest in a career
in family practice. Awards are to assist with participation
in the Family Medicine Forum 2007 and includes complementary
registration and $1,000 to offset travel and other expenses.
Those unable to attend will receive $250. Students will be
nominated through a selection committee from each school.
Deadline data June 1, 2007.
