Métis Nation of Ontario Economic Development (MNOED) initiative was established to assist Métis communities across the province in developing economic self-sufficiency.

Partnership Development Advisor

Based on the Working Partnerships Program, the objective of this role is to help create or identify opportunities for Aboriginal people by facilitating partnerships between the Aboriginal community and the corporate/private sector.

Generally, the “PDA” will help enable, improve and contribute to economic development within the Aboriginal Community in Ontario, through the following measures:

  • Act as a resource and facilitator by helping to identify and develop partnership development between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal private sector business communities
  • Assist or provide advise on the delivery of related business/technical workshops, forums, and presentations, to help meet business goals
  • Assist Aboriginal citizens to identify resources available to help attain their partnership goals
  • Distribute Aboriginal partnership development information and ‘kits’ to related organizations and agencies.
  • Develop relationships, liaise and communicate with private & public sector stakeholders, in association with existing Aboriginal organizations
  • Identify and help to reduce barriers to Aboriginal partnership development

The Partnership Development role is sponsored by Ontario Native Affairs Secretariat.

Aboriginal Business Service Network

The Aboriginal Business Service Network (ABSN) was implemented to help bridge the gap between business information and resources for the Aboriginal client. The ABSN provides timely relevant business information to Aboriginal clients who access the site via the Internet, telephone, fax or walk-in.

The Aboriginal Business Service Network is sponsored by the Canada Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC) and the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor).

ABSN Services:

  • Information or guidance concerning business planning and operations by qualified coordinators/advisors;
  • On-line access to information and data services provided by the COBSC;
  • Access to a comprehensive library of business publications, resources and directories
